Word to PDF

Need a DOCX turned into a PDF that looks right? This tool converts your Word document on a server, using the same engine that opens and prints it on a desktop. No settings to fiddle with, no quality options to second-guess—just upload a file and get back a faithful PDF.

03 / HOW TO CONVERT A W

How to convert a Word document to PDF

The process is deliberately simple: you upload one DOCX file, and the tool does the rest. There is nothing to configure, no boxes to tick, no profiles to choose. The document is converted exactly as it stands, with its formatting, layout, and content preserved.

While the job runs, the page shows the status as uploading, then queued, then running with a percentage. When it finishes, you get a PDF that has been re-opened and checked, so a broken result is never handed over.

04 / WHAT HAPPENS TO YO

What happens to your file

Your file is uploaded to a private object storage. For anonymous use, it is deleted after 1 hour; if you are signed in, it is kept for 7 days. This retention applies from the moment of upload, giving you a clear window to download the result.

Before anything opens the file, it is scanned for malware. If the scan finds a problem, the file never reaches the conversion engine. The file type is also verified by reading its actual bytes, not the file name—so renaming a non-DOCX file to .docx will not get it through, and anything that is not what the tool expects is rejected before any work starts.

05 / CONVERSION QUALITY

Conversion quality and what 'real office engine' means

The conversion is done by LibreOffice, running headless on the server. That means the PDF is produced by the same engine that opens a Word document and prints it to PDF on a desktop. You are not getting a quick text extraction or a scrambled approximation; the layout, fonts, images, and page structure are all carried over.

But fidelity has one honest limit: fonts. If the server does not have a font that your document uses, that font is substituted, and a substituted font can shift line and page breaks. If your document must paginate exactly, the reliable fixes are to embed its fonts or to export it from the application that wrote it.

06 / WHAT THIS TOOL CAN

What this tool cannot do

It accepts exactly one DOCX file per job. You cannot upload multiple files at once, and you cannot set options like PDF/A or image compression. If you need to combine many documents or apply specific PDF settings, this tool is not the right fit.

The conversion is one-way—from DOCX to PDF. It does not convert PDF files back to Word, nor does it handle other input formats. And because it is server based, you need a stable internet connection for the upload and download.

07 / WHEN THE RESULT LO

When the result looks wrong

The most common cause of a PDF that looks different from the original DOCX is font substitution. If the tool detects that it had to replace fonts, it will return a warning: FONTS_SUBSTITUTED. This warning means unavailable fonts were replaced, so line breaks can shift. It is not an error—the conversion completed—but it tells you to check the PDF for layout changes.

If you see this warning, the fix is to embed the fonts in your Word document before converting. In Word, you can do this through the options for saving the file, or by exporting to PDF from Word itself. Embedding ensures the fonts travel with the document, so the server can use them exactly.

If you get a PDF that looks wrong without any warning, check the original document for issues that Word itself might render inconsistently—for example, tables with fixed widths or text boxes. Sometimes the source file has quirks that show up in any PDF conversion.

08 / SECURITY AND RELIA

Security and reliability

Every job runs a malware scan on the uploaded file before it is opened. This protects the server and, by extension, your own data. The file type is determined by reading its actual bytes, never by the file name, so a malicious file disguised with a .docx extension is caught and rejected.

The produced PDF is also re-opened and parsed before it is offered for download. If the conversion silently produces something broken, the job fails instead of giving you a corrupt file. This redundant checking is rare among online converters and is designed to give you confidence in the output.

FAQ

Common questions

Will my PDF look exactly like my Word document?

It should, because the conversion uses LibreOffice, the same engine that opens and prints DOCX files on a desktop. The only common difference comes from fonts: if the server lacks a font you used, it substitutes one, which can shift line and page breaks. To avoid that, embed your fonts in the DOCX.

What file size and page limits does the converter accept?

The converter accepts a single DOCX file up to 50 MB in size and up to 500 pages. If your file exceeds either limit, it will be rejected before conversion begins.

What does the FONTS_SUBSTITUTED warning mean?

It means one or more fonts used in your DOCX are not installed on the server, so they were replaced with similar ones. This can cause line breaks and page breaks to shift, so the PDF may not match your original pagination exactly. To avoid it, embed fonts in the DOCX or export to PDF from the original application.

Is my document private and secure?

Your file is scanned for malware before any processing, stored in private object storage, and automatically deleted after 1 hour for anonymous use or 7 days if you are signed in. The file type is verified by content, not by file name, to block disguised threats.

Can I convert multiple Word files at once?

No. Each job accepts exactly one file. If you have several DOCX files to convert, you need to run them one by one. There is no batch upload or queue for multiple files.

Why does my PDF have different page breaks than my Word document?

Page breaks depend on fonts, margins, and the rendering engine. This tool uses LibreOffice, which generally matches Word's layout, but if the server substitutes a font because yours is missing, the text may reflow and change where pages end. Embedding fonts in the DOCX is the best way to get identical pagination.

Does this tool convert PDF to Word?

No, this tool only converts DOCX to PDF. It does not handle PDF to Word conversion or any other format. If you need to go the other way, you'll need a different tool.
