03 / HOW TO SPLIT YOUR
How to Split Your PDF
Choose a PDF file up to 50 MB and 500 pages. After you select it, the tool reads the file in your browser and shows a text box where you can type the page ranges you want to split into.
Write each group of pages as a range with a hyphen, and separate multiple groups with semicolons. For example, if you enter 1-2;3-5, the tool creates two separate PDFs: one with pages 1 and 2, and another with pages 3, 4, and 5.
When you run the split, each group becomes its own downloadable PDF. There are no settings to adjust, so the process is straightforward.
04 / WHAT HAPPENS TO YO
What Happens to Your File
Unlike many online tools, this splitter does not upload your PDF to a server. All the work is done by PDF code running in your browser tab, and no file is ever transmitted.
Because nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on any server. The working copy of your document exists only in the browser tab, and if you close the tab, that copy is discarded.
This also means you can split sensitive documents without worrying about them leaving your device.
05 / LIMITS AND REQUIRE
Limits and Requirements
The tool accepts one PDF file at a time. Each file can be up to 50 MB in size and contain up to 500 pages, as checked in your browser before the process starts.
You can define up to 50 page groups, and each group becomes its own PDF. If you need more than 50 separate files, you can run the tool again with the remaining pages.
There are no settings to change, so you cannot adjust compression or output quality – the tool creates PDFs as they are in the original.
06 / WHAT TO DO IF THE
What to Do If the Result Isn't What You Expected
First, check the ranges you typed. The tool follows your instructions exactly, so a typo like 1-2;3-4 (when you meant 1-2;3-5) will produce a PDF with the wrong pages.
If a split fails, verify that your file meets the size and page limits. Files over 50 MB or with more than 500 pages cannot be processed.
Also confirm that you are not using commas or spaces instead of semicolons. The correct format separates ranges with semicolons, as in the placeholder example 1-2;3-5.
If the output still looks wrong, check the original PDF's page numbering. Some documents start at a page number that is not 1 in the viewer, but the tool counts physical pages from the first page.
07 / TECHNICAL NOTES
Technical Notes
The split happens locally, so the speed depends on your device and the size of the PDF. Large files or many groups may take a moment, but there is no progress percentage shown while the tool works.
The tool runs entirely in the browser tab and shows no percentage while it works. You can keep the tab open until the downloads are ready.
Since each group becomes its own PDF, the number of output files matches the number of semi-colon-separated ranges you enter.
There are no error codes or warning messages built into the tool. If something goes wrong, the issue is usually with the input format or the file's compliance with the limits.
FAQ
Common questions
How do I split a PDF into multiple files?
Select a PDF up to 50 MB and 500 pages. In the text box, type ranges like 1-2;3-5, separating each group with a semicolon. Each range will become its own PDF download.
Will the output PDF files be smaller?
No. The tool does not recompress or optimize the PDFs. Each output PDF contains only the pages you specified, but the content and quality are the same as the original.
Is it safe to split sensitive documents?
Yes. The tool runs entirely in your browser and never uploads the file. Nothing is stored on a server, and closing the tab removes the working copy.
What does '1-2;3-5' mean?
It means create one PDF from page 1 to 2, and another PDF from page 3 to 5. Use hyphens for ranges and semicolons to separate groups.
Can I split a PDF that has more than 500 pages?
No. The tool only accepts PDFs up to 500 pages. If your file exceeds that, you might need to reduce its content or use another method.
Why is there no progress bar?
The tool doesn't show a percentage or progress bar. It processes the file locally in your browser; you'll simply see the result when it's ready.
What happens if I close the tab while splitting?
The download may be interrupted, and the temporary copy is discarded. The original file is unaffected, but you'll need to start again.
