Add text watermark

Place a controlled, translucent text watermark across every page of a PDF. The entire process runs inside your browser tab, so your file is never uploaded or stored. Works with PDFs up to 50 MB and 500 pages.

03 / HOW TO WATERMARK A

How to Watermark a PDF

Select a PDF file from your device. The file must be a single PDF, up to 50 MB in size and no more than 500 pages. These limits are checked in your browser before any processing begins.

Enter the watermark text – up to 120 characters. Set opacity between 0.05 and 0.8. There are no other settings; the tool is intentionally simple. The text is stamped once along a fixed diagonal across the middle of every page. It is not tiled or repeated.

04 / WHAT HAPPENS INSID

What Happens Inside the Browser

All processing occurs locally in your browser tab. The PDF code runs inside the tab itself, so the file never leaves your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which means nothing is stored. If you close the tab, the working copy is discarded.

This local approach has a practical benefit: you can watermark sensitive or confidential documents without worrying about transmitting them over the internet. There is no waiting for file uploads or downloads – the result appears in your browser.

05 / WHAT THE TOOL DOES

What the Tool Does and Doesn't Do

The tool places one line of text across the center of each page at a fixed diagonal. The tilt is not adjustable – there is no angle control; the value is set in the code. If you need a different angle or multiple lines, this tool will not meet that need.

It also does not offer choices for font, size, or color. The watermark appears in a translucent style, with opacity controlled by you. Because the watermark is translucent, it may not be suitable if you need a fully opaque overlay to obscure content.

06 / IF THE RESULT LOOK

If the Result Looks Wrong

Check that your PDF meets the stated limits: up to 50 MB and 500 pages. If the file exceeds these, the tool will not process it. There are no warning codes; if an error occurs, it is likely due to file size, page count, or an invalid PDF.

Review the watermark text for length – more than 120 characters will cause an error. Also verify that the opacity value is within 0.05 to 0.8. If the watermark appears too faint or too dark, adjust the opacity and try again.

Remember that the watermark is placed on each page exactly as described. If you expected a watermark tiled across the page or at a different angle, the result will differ from that expectation.

07 / PRIVACY AND FILE H

Privacy and File Handling

Because the file is processed entirely in your browser, there is no upload and no server-side storage. The working copy exists only in the tab's memory. Closing the tab clears it.

This means you should download the watermarked PDF before closing the tab if you want to keep it. After closing, there is no way to retrieve the processed file because it was never stored.

FAQ

Common questions

Will watermarking my PDF reduce its quality?

The tool processes the PDF locally, but it does not compress or re-encode the original content beyond adding the watermark. There is no loss of quality in the original pages; the watermark itself is added as a translucent overlay.

Can I use this for a PDF larger than 50 MB?

No. The tool checks file size in your browser, and files exceeding 50 MB will not be processed. You would need to reduce the file size or split the PDF before using the tool.

Why is my watermark not showing up?

Make sure the opacity is above the minimum 0.05. Lower opacity makes the watermark very faint. Also confirm you entered text – an empty string would not create a visible watermark. Check that the text length is within 120 characters.

Can I adjust the angle of the watermark?

No. The watermark is stamped at a fixed diagonal, and there is no angle control. If you need a different orientation, this tool is not suitable.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser tab. The file is never uploaded, so nothing is stored on any server. Closing the tab discards the working copy.
